A tragic opera in three acts | Concert version - Music, Henry Purcell (1659-1695), Libretto, Nahum Tate (1652-1715). The story of the opera is based on the fourth book of Virgil's Aeneid and describes the tragic and thwarted love between Dido, Queen of Carthage, and the Trojan hero Aeneas.
